US AIM Act sector-specific refrigerant GWP limits and compliance dates (40 CFR 84.54)
Federal sector-specific maximum GWP values for refrigerants and HFC-containing products under the AIM Act Technology Transitions rule (40 CFR 84.54). Each record is one sector/subsector with the GWP ceiling, the effective date for manufacture/import restrictions, the effective date for installation restrictions (often different), equipment size or temperature conditions, and any exemptions. Answers 'what is the maximum GWP refrigerant I can use in a new supermarket system?', 'when does the R-410A ban take effect for residential AC?', 'is there an exemption for semiconductor manufacturing chillers?', and 'what changed in the May 2026 reconsideration rule?' — questions where the answer depends on the sector, the date, the equipment size, and the temperature range, and where assistants typically give the residential AC answer (700 GWP) regardless of the sector.
