( 1 ) A person that violates <https://www.govinfo.gov/link/uscode/49/33114> 49 U.S.C. 33114(a)(1)-(4) is liable to the United States Government for a civil penalty of not more than $2,998 for each violation. The failure of more than one part of a single motor vehicle to conform to an applicable standard under <https://www.govinfo.gov/link/uscode/49/33102> 49 U.S.C. 33102 or <https://www.govinfo.gov/link/uscode/49/33103> 33103 is only a single violation. The maximum penalty under this <https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-49/section-578.6#p-578.6(g)(1)> paragraph (g)(1) for a related series of violations is $749,432.
